This essential 5-step tutorial guides hoteliers through setting up Dayuse services directly within the Mews platform to maximize revenue from day-use inventory.

 

1. Creating your day service

This is the moment your Dayuse bookings officially take shape. Head straight to the Services section of Mews. The absolute key setting here? You must set the service's bookable period to 'Day'. That simple toggle automatically generates the corresponding time slots that will then appear on the Dayuse website.

Once created, go ahead and set the official check-in and check-out times. This is vital for your front-of-house team, as it helps your property clearly distinguish the day-stay availability from your standard overnight bookings.

⚠️ Please note: Once this service is created and the Dayuse connection is active, you won't be able to tweak it in Mews. If you need to make any changes down the road, please just reach out to your dedicated Dayuse Account Manager.

2. Linking to the corresponding room types

Next up, you need to tell Mews exactly which of your rooms are available for Dayuse bookings.

In Mews terminology, your room types are called 'space categories'. You need to create brand new, specific space categories that are dedicated solely to your day-use service. This allows your physical rooms to effectively have two identities: one for your traditional overnight guests, and the new one we created for Dayuse.

Go to the Spaces section and link this new Dayuse room type to the appropriate physical rooms. This step guarantees that your inventory management is crystal-clear.

3. Making a new pricing plan

With the service and inventory linked, it’s now time to talk money. When you set your rate in Mews, remember this golden rule: The price you enter must be the Gross Price.

This is the final price that your guests will see on the Dayuse website. Therefore, this rate must include the Dayuse commission, along with any booking or processing fees that your hotel is responsible for collecting. Getting the pricing right here prevents any confusion or operational mismatches later on.

4. Managing availability

Sometimes you need to hit the pause button on bookings, perhaps maybe for a big event or a forecasted busy day. To temporarily suspend Dayuse bookings, you must use the Rate Plan settings.

Select the relevant rate plan and apply a Closed to Stay (CTS) restriction for your desired dates. Remember, this must be applied to the Rate Plan, not the Service itself. This allows you to have a focused and flexible control over your inventory.

5. Setting a Daily Bookings Cap

Do you want to set a maximum number how many Dayuse bookings you take per day, regardless of the number of physical rooms you have available? This is a popular way for hotels to manage the capacity of bookings without fully shutting down your service.

⚠️ Please note: Once this service is created and the Dayuse connection is active, you cannot edit it directly in Mews. 

To set this daily cap, all you have to do is reach out to your Dayuse Account Manager. They will implement this limit for you, providing an extra layer of operational control and peace of mind.
